Information for your Fiji Travels

WHAT TO EXPECT
These are not luxury resorts.
If you need a hair dryer, this is not for you. The accommodation
is often in stunning settings and is generally basic but
this is where you’ll experience the real Fiji. You’ll
get to meet, mix and mingle with the locals who operate the
resorts and whose home this is. The resorts are not owned
by Awesome Adventures and they can vary from property to
property and week to week but we do monitor them and we have
our own staff moving around all the time to try to ensure
everything is as it should be. |

ACCOMMODATION
Most Resorts offer the choice of dormitory or share twin/double accommodation. All are fitted with mosquito nets but we recommend bringing along insect repellent. Share twin and double rooms are called Bures. This is the name for traditional Fiji housing featuring a thatched roof. Some bures do feature ensuite bathroom facilities but the majority are with shared facilities. Note there is no hot water but with a tepid local water supply it’s really not required. You’ll have electricity from around sunset to midnight then it’s lights out. There is no mains power on the islands. |
PACKAGES OR BULA PASSES?
If you want to explore the Yasawas in your own
time and have total freedom to choose where you go, then the ‘Bula
Passes’ are for you. The 7, 14 & 21 day passes
offer unlimited travel within the Yasawa Islands. Combine the boat
pass with a convenient, easy to use ‘Accommodation
Pass’ or book as you go. Given this is a holiday
however and if you want to take all the hassle out of it, then
go for our great value packages combining the transfers, accommodation,
meals and key activities. We’ve been to all the places and
done all the activities we offer you – we know they’re
awesome!
WHAT IS A 'FULL MONTY' (FM)?
The 'Full Monty' is the same Boat/Bed/Meals itinerary PLUS the awesome activities listed under ‘Full Monty inclusions’.
WHERE YOU STAY / RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE PROPERTIES
The places where you’ll stay are mainly quite small so it is difficult to always provide you with a specific property. If we are a little vague in our descriptions it’s deliberate because there may be 2 or 3 properties on that island where we’ll book you depending on availability. If we specify a particular property that means it is the one we use most of the time, BUT... there arent any computerised booking systems in the Yasawas, there are radio telephones. SO ON ALL PACKAGES (EXCEPT THE ISLAND STAYPUTS) WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PUT YOU INTO ANOTHER PROPERTY. It will be of a similar standard and you'll have just as good a time. Occasionally we may even have to swap the order of the nights around or put you on a different island but in all cases we'll provide you with a similar experience. That’s just the way it is in the Yasawa Islands. |

FREE NADI TRANSFERS TO THE MARINA
We are very happy to pick you up the day of departure
for the transfer to Denarau Marina BUT Fijians are not psychic
so if you don’t book your Nadi accommodation through us you
have to tell us where you are staying. If you don’t getting
to the Marina on time is your responsibility and at your cost.

EATING
One of life’s necessities and great pleasures. We’ve included meals in the packages (except where stated) because eating at the resort you’re staying in is the only choice – there are no restaurants around the corner. Meals are served at specific times of day e.g. breakfast 8am – 9am. This provides an opportunity to check out the talent – sorry, we mean meet fellow travellers. Meals are simple and filling. We recommend vegetarians inform the resort on arrival. |
MONEY
Credit cards and travellers cheques can be used
on some islands but not all. If you’re on an Awesome Adventures
Fiji package between FJ$25-$35 cash per day should be enough. For
those passengers using the Bula Pass accommodation prices are between
FJ$60-$90 per night for a dorm (including 3 meals) or FJ$75-$200
per night for a share twin/double bure (including 3 meals). Some
island resorts charge extra for snorkelling equipment.
Note: There are no banks on the islands,
only in Nadi. ANZ at the airport is 24hrs. Cash machines
are available in Nadi and there is one at Denarau Marina next
to the check-in desk. The currency is the Fijian dollar. Be warned
- it is a long way back from the Yasawas if you run out!

OPEN DATED BOOKINGS
We know sometimes you are leaving home a long way ahead of getting to paradise and plans can change, so all packages and the passes can be booked on an open dated basis. All you need to do is confirm your arrival date and starting date with Awesome Adventures at least 14 days prior to your arrival in Fiji. Leave it any later and we'll still get you in but a few changes may be needed. |
sundays
Sunday is a day of rest and church going in the Yasawas. This means that conducted activities are not on offer. But you are free to do activities on your own. In most villages you will be welcome to join the church service - an amazing experience.
