A 'taste' of the Fiji culture
"Delicious!" Um... well, the taste is 'acquired', but Yaqona, also known around the Pacific as 'kava', is Fiji's national drink and carries an important role in formal ceremonies. Made from the pulverised root of a kava plant, it has long been known to have medicinal qualities. At many resorts we visit, you'll be welcome to join a kava ceremony and learn the traditional and formal practices that come with drinking this ancient plant.
